Routine Dental Cleaning Denver NC

Having clean teeth is one of the more effective ways to maintain optimum oral health and wellness. That includes brushing and flossing the teeth after every meal or snack to remove food particles and halt the development of plaque and tartar. But despite daily brushing and flossing, microbes may still be left behind on the surfaces of the teeth and gums, forming plaque and tartar that can impact one’s oral health. Even the most vigilant brushing needs extra help. The best way to clean teeth is to take daily steps at home and visit the dentist once every six months for routine dental cleanings. Denver, NC area dentists at Denver Dental Arts, encourage patients to see their team for dental plaque and tartar removal regularly.

Why are routine dental cleanings important?

Taking care of the smile plays a significant role in achieving and keeping the smile healthy. However, there still may be situations where the teeth are not thoroughly cleaned. When patients visit Denver Dental Arts for a routine evaluation and cleaning, they take extra steps to protect their smile from periodontal disease and cavities. At the same time, the dental team can fully evaluate the smile and look for signs of trouble, such as the formation of decay or signs that gingivitis has developed. These routine trips also help patients build a positive relationship with their dental team for improved oral health and wellness.

Do I need scaling and root planing?

Root planing and scaling are a deeper clean that is often done for patients who have developed periodontal disease. It can help bring the smile back to health after the infection has occurred and may be performed in conjunction with prescribing antibiotics. Signs you may need scaling and root planing include:

  • Deep pockets between teeth and gums.
  • Loose teeth.
  • Red, swollen gum tissues.
  • Persistent bad breath.
  • Bleeding when brushing or flossing.
