Preventive Dentistry Denver NC

Gum disease and cavities are two of the more common dental conditions that patients in the Denver, NC area face if they are not taking proper care of their smiles. Drs. Nathen Ellis and Spencer Stewart of Denver Dental Arts believe that working with a trusted professional is the best way to prevent these problems. With preventive dentistry, patients can keep their smiles healthy and reduce their risks of developing periodontal disease and tooth decay.

What is preventive dentistry?

Preventive dentistry is a proactive approach to one’s dental needs. When patients take good care of their teeth and gums, they will significantly reduce their risks of developing problems such as periodontitis and tooth decay. At Denver Dental Arts, preventive dentistry includes:

  • Brushing the teeth after every meal
  • Flossing at least once a day, after meals if possible
  • Calling the dentist when dental issues arise or there are changes to the health of the smile
  • Visiting the dentist twice yearly for a cleaning and evaluation

What is the goal of preventive dentistry?

The goal of preventive dentistry is to eliminate the risk of problems whenever possible. Tooth decay and periodontal disease are often the results of poor oral health habits. (Learn more about how bad oral health affects overall well-being). When patients take care of their smiles as directed, they will significantly reduce the chances of experiencing periodontal disease and tooth decay. This, in turn, will allow patients to enjoy a healthy, beautiful smile for life under the care of a dental professional they trust. Issues like periodontal disease and tooth decay can cause the loss of soft tissues, bone, and natural teeth and should be avoided.
