A dental crown is a tooth-shaped restoration that is placed over a tooth to strengthen, restore, and enhance its health and appearance. Dental crowns are small restorations, but they have multiple applications. Your Denver dentist may recommend dental crowns for many functional and aesthetic functions, including:
Your teeth are resilient, but they are not indestructible. Over time, your tooth can become weakened by decay, large fillings, fractures, or wear and tear. A weakened tooth is more vulnerable to cracking or breaking under the pressure of everyday chewing or biting.
A dental crown covers the entire tooth, reinforcing it against everyday wear and tear. This added protection significantly reduces the risk of further damage and helps preserve your natural tooth for years to come.
Dental fillings are excellent for mild to moderate damage. However, when damage affects a large portion of the tooth, a dental filling will be insufficient. In these cases, a dental crown may be the better solution. A dental crown covers the remaining healthy tooth structure, restoring its strength, function, and appearance. Many patients are surprised that dental crowns can save teeth that once looked hopeless.
A root canal is a tooth-saving procedure that helps treat deeply seated infections. The dentist removes the infected tissue, cleans the tooth, and uses a rubber-like substance to seal it during this procedure. Root canal treatment saves the tooth, but leaves it more vulnerable to cracks or fractures. A dental crown protects the treated tooth, which allows you to continue using it comfortably and confidently.
Have you lost one or multiple teeth? Dental crowns in Denver do not just repair damage. They also play an important role in tooth replacement.
For example, crowns may be used:
Dental crowns can also provide cosmetic benefits. They can help enhance the appearance of a misshapen, worn-down, or stained tooth. Our crowns are created from natural-looking materials that closely mimic the color, translucency, and shape of natural teeth. They provide a natural blend with your smile, ensuring a beautifully refreshed appearance.
